This training offers the insight needed to understand the difficult people in our lives. It includes an introduction to the behavioral dynamics and essential communication strategies designed to diffuse difficult encounters and move beyond conflict to problem resolution.
This engaging training will teach the components of effective public speaking and will address communication styles, including awareness of our own fears and speaking styles. Strategies and elements of the presentation will be discussed, including proper planning for the presentation, information within the limits, effective introductions and conclusions, as well as outlining. Also included is an overview of common presentation pitfalls and how to avoid them.
This training will heighten awareness of the ways we communicate with our co-workers. Participants will identify communication strategies to overcome resistance and conflict. Also included will be an overview of common communication pitfalls, the use of non-verbal skills for greater impact, assertiveness skills, and specific techniques for managing difficult interactions.
During this nutritional segment, participants will learn the components of a healthy family meal, strategies for family meal planning, expanding “Meatless Monday”, preparing meals (involving children), making your favorite meals more healthy, trying new foods, cutting down on sodium and saturated fat.
This training explores how to recognize the signs that someone is in distress and take effective, caring steps to help. This session will discuss preventing distress, signs and symptoms of distress, the first thing you’ll notice, recognizing the early subtle signs of distress, how a person might behave when they are experiencing mood problems addictions and suicidal thoughts, and focus on building trust and establishing rapport, not on diagnosing.
Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique. Mindfulness helps us to be open to new experiences, participate, fully in each experience and use non-judgmental awareness. Mindfulness allows us to look at situations with a fresh perspective, and accept things that may be outside of our control. Mindfulness tools include progressive muscle relaxation, grounding exercises, mindful eating, deep breathing, meditation, guided imagery, gratitude and much more! There are many benefits to practicing Mindfulness such as improving reasoning and memory, maintaining balance with work, school, relationships and responsibilities as well as increasing happiness and a sense of purpose while developing a healthier lifestyle.
During this nutrition segment, participants will learn about energy balance, the weight-loss triad, obstacles/common problems that can affect weight management, grocery shopping tips, mindless eating/emotional eating, meal and snack planning, mindful/emotional eating and some healthy holiday eating tips plus much more.
