7-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Group
“When we are mindful, deeply in touch with the present moment, our understanding of what is going on deepens, and we begin be filled with acceptance, joy, peace and love.”
–Thich Nhat Hanh
Join us for this 7-week group training on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
MBSR teaches individuals the principles of mindfulness – focusing on things happening in the present moment without judgment and worry – and how to apply them across the entire body to deal more effectively with stress, pain, illness, psychological distress and the demands of daily life. It teaches participants to respond to stressful situations “mindfully.”
MBSR includes Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy which demonstrates how individuals can best work with their thoughts-feelings-actions when daily stress threatens to overwhelm their quality of life and how to recognize emotional distress due to ineffective coping that can bring negative thought patterns that invoke the stress reaction.
MBSR has been extensively researched and found to be a helpful adjunct to conventional treatments for a variety of medical and psychological conditions, particularly anxiety, stress, depression, pain, and weight management.
Participants in this group will learn to better manage stress by focusing on the things happening in the present moment while concentrating on calm breathing and consciously letting go of unhelpful thoughts and distractions that run through our mind.
